Oh Niki, that's huge! Now if there had been anything/one under it... :-((( Gums are notoriously shallow-rooted. Sorry it was your favourite. I can't help thinking 'firewood'!!
Forgot to say tragic! I know you are grieving the loss. Thank goodness no one was hurt. Tree falls in Atlanta are a huge hazard currently---because of recent summers of drought followed by a summer of heavy rains---dying roots and soaked ground not a good combination. Looks like pg has his work cut out for him. Firewood is good, but a tree that size represents some mighty heavy labor!

Made it easier for the children to climb it though .. and yes .. will be great next winter :)
