i think the suds are the closest to shapeless you have got. Interesting - you know how I said water is essentially shapeless but takes on the shape of anything it is contained in - well suds have that bit more 'body' to them so they don't run away if uncontained but they remain pretty much shapeless - sort of. Good thinking.
I agree with PG - 'translucency' is a beautiful word.
