Under the firewood, Little Mouse waits.

When the coast is clear he scuttles out.

For in the gaps of the doormat lies a banquet of crumbs.

And why are there crumbs?

Hmmm...

Thanks, Bonnie Dog!

Awwww - a real little field mouse. I'm a sucker for wee mice :-)

How long did it take you to get those shots Niki?? I wouldn't have thought it possible to photograph a mouse - they move so fast.

I'm glad Bonnie thoughtfully leaves crumbs!! ;-)

Read it again and grinned. Sorry - I know you don't want Bonnie leaving crumbs or mice eating them - but mousey must think it's Christmas :-)

It doesn't matter where I put Bonnie's biscuits, she always brings them back on the doormat to eat. Then spend ages trying to claw the crumbs out of the gaps!

Had the camera set to continuous burst. It was so hard as wee mouse was zipping backwards and forwards :) Very cute! And ashamed to say that the blurry smudgey part is the dirty glass door hehe :)

We see mousey most nights. He's the one who puts his paws on the sliding glass door and looks in!

The wonders of modern tech! Does the camera run all night?

Reminds me of the poem we learned in first grade:

I think mice
Are rather nice.

Their tails are long,
Their faces small,
They haven't any
Chins at all.
Their ears are pink,
Their teeth are white,
They run about
The house at night.
They nibble things
They shouldn't touch,
And no one seems
To like them much.

But I think mice
Are nice.

To explain no blogging of late: Grandchildren in the house and computer glitches. Back online Friday, I hope!

Meantime, loved your little mouse. Similar things going on at our sliding back door under the bird feeder. Don't know who's cleaning up the chaff at night, but somebody is, because it's always slick as a whistle in the morning. Never have to sweep that part of the deck. We're thinking possums as we see them around on occasion. Here's hoping it's not Ratty!
